General Information

As pupils make their journey through the school they follow a wide and varied curriculum which allows them to develop a range of skills through a variety of subjects. Throughout this journey pupils will make subject choices which will allow them to specialise their skills in areas that interest them and in subject areas helpful to them in future career and study paths.

S1

Pupils follow a program of Broad General Education.

The S1 curriculum includes Enrichment periods where pupils will actively use a variety of skills from various subject areas across the curriculum.

Towards the end of S1 pupils will make personalisation choices for S2.

 

S2

Pupils follow a program of Broad General Education.

The S2 curriculum includes Enrichment periods where pupils will actively use a variety of skills from various subject areas across the curriculum.

Towards the end of S2 pupils will make personalisation choices for S3.

 

S3

Pupils follow a program of Broad General Education.

Towards the end of S3 pupils will make choices about which subjects to study at National level in S4.

S4

Pupils study chosen subjects at the National level.

The S4 curriculum includes Wider Achievement periods where pupils can chose from a range of areas of interest offered by various faculties. These periods allow pupils to gain skills and knowledge in areas that interest them outwith the standard curriculum.

Towards the end of S4 pupils will chose National/Higher subjects to study in S5.

 

S5

Pupils study chosen subjects at National or Higher level.

The S5 timetable includes Study periods which allow pupils time in school to focus on their subject coursework, prepare for assessments and revise for examinations. Self study is a discipline which prepares senior pupils for the world of college and university where time management and self study techniques are both and expectation and a requirement.

Towards the end of S4 pupils will chose National/Higher/Advanced Higher subjects to study in S6.

 

S6

Pupils study chosen subjects at National, Higher or Advanced Higher level.

Pupils with additional support needs or support for learning requirements will largely follow the same curriculum. Some pupils may be timetabled for specialist periods within the support for learning base. Arrangements are made within school by SfL colleagues on a case by case basis.
